The Luminous Skin Journey

Dear Soulful Friends,

At Crystal Creams, we know that true beauty begins with care — not just of the skin, but of the body, mind, and spirit. Every touch, every ritual, every mindful moment is an offering to your inner light… and to the wisdom of the Earth. 🌿💎

Your skin is a reflection of your inner light.

We see beauty as a quiet harmony between what we nourish within and what we care for without. Each ingredient is chosen with intention, inspired by nature’s rhythm and crystal energy. Our wish is to trace a gentle path — from skincare to nutrition, mindfulness, and light movement — where every practice supports balance, calm, and radiant well-being. 🌸✨

This November, we are delighted to invite you to The Luminous Skin Journey — a 24-month, step-by-step adventure designed to guide you in holistic skincare through crystal care, mindfulness, gentle movement, and seasonal nourishment.

Why We Created The Luminous Skin Journey

The Luminous Skin Journey was born from a quiet wish — to offer a path that honours both the skin and the soul. At Crystal Creams, we believe skincare is more than a routine; it is a ritual of presence, gratitude, and connection. Each crystal, each botanical, each mindful moment is an opportunity to return to yourself — to feel, breathe, and glow from within.

This journey unfolds slowly, like the rhythm of the seasons. It invites you to listen — to your skin, your body, your emotions, and the subtle energies that flow through them all. With each month, you’ll discover ways to nurture balance: through the care of your crystals, through mindful breath, gentle movement, and nourishment guided by nature’s wisdom.

The Luminous Skin Journey is not something to complete, but to experience — softly, lovingly, and at your own pace. 🌸

What You Can Expect Each Month

Each month of The Luminous Skin Journey opens a new doorway — a simple, mindful step towards harmony and radiance. You’ll be guided through moments of stillness and discovery, each one connected to the rhythm of the seasons and the wisdom of the Earth.

The journey moves in a gentle circle of four themes, weaving together care for your crystals, your body, your mind, and your nourishment:

💎 Crystals — learning to care for, cleanse, and connect with your crystal companions, honouring their subtle energy and light.

🌸 Mindfulness — cultivating awareness through quiet reflection, breath, and presence.

🌿 Movement — exploring gentle ways to flow, stretch, and awaken the body.

🍃 Nutrition — embracing the gifts of the seasons to nurture beauty from within.

Each message offers a small practice, a reflection, or a ritual — something simple yet meaningful to anchor your month in calm intention.

The Journey Ahead

As you walk this path, each month will invite you to pause, breathe, and reconnect — with your skin, your body, and the quiet wisdom within. The Luminous Skin Journey is an unfolding rather than a destination, a rhythm that honours both growth and rest.

You will learn to care for your crystals with presence, to let mindfulness soften your days, to move in ways that bring lightness, and to nourish yourself in tune with the seasons. Over time, these practices begin to weave together — creating a gentle balance between inner calm and outer radiance.

This is your time to listen deeply, to care intentionally, and to glow naturally — one mindful month at a time. 🌿✨

A Gentle Invitation

As we begin this journey together, take a quiet moment for yourself. Sit where the light feels soft, breathe deeply, and feel your own radiance beneath the surface. Keep your crystals close — they will listen, hold, and gently amplify your intention.

The Luminous Skin Journey is an offering of presence — a reminder that beauty blooms when we slow down enough to notice it. Each touch of cream, each mindful breath, each moment of care is a whisper to the light within you, waiting to be seen.

May this path bring you balance, softness, and a glow that begins in the heart and shines through the skin. 🌿💎

With love and gratitude,

Cristina & Crystal Creams ✨

Our Skin - Structure, Functions & Needs

This month's Newsletter will provide a brief overview of the structure and functions of our skin, with special attention given to the unique aspects of our facial skin.

The skin serves as a remarkable indicator of overall health and is an exceptionally dynamic organ. It undergoes a complete renewal process every 28 days and is capable of shedding approximately 500 million cells daily. This vast organ is also home to around 1,000 species of non-harmful bacteria. As the largest organ in the human body, it constitutes roughly 8% of our total body weight and performs several critical functions. Among its most vital roles are providing protection against physical injuries and UV radiation to the underlying tissues, absorption, which is extensively utilized by the medical field for transdermal drug delivery and by the cosmetic industry to nourish deeper skin layers and restore skin hydration. It also aids in the excretion of metabolic waste products and is essential for the synthesis of vitamin D, a vital nutrient that helps regulate calcium metabolism and promotes bone health.

The skin is composed of three distinct layers: the epidermis, the dermis, and the hypodermis.

▪The epidermis, being the outermost layer, varies in thickness depending on its location on the body. It is thinnest on the eyelids, measuring approximately half a millimetres, and thickest on the palms and soles, where it can be about 1.5 millimetres thick.

The epidermis itself is subdivided into five layers, each consisting of cells with unique names and functions. The majority of these cells are keratinocytes, which produce keratin, a protein that forms the skin's outermost cornified layer, helping it retain moisture. Melanocytes are responsible for skin pigmentation, while Langerhans cells play a crucial role in initiating the skin's immune response, defending against pathogens. Lastly, Merkel cells are responsible for detecting light touch sensations.

Nestled just beneath the epidermis lies the dermis, the middle layer of the skin. This vital layer is rich in connective tissue, fine blood vessels, nerve endings, and hair follicles. It also houses a variety of glands, such as sebaceous glands that secrete sebum, a natural body oil, and apocrine glands that produce sweat.

▪The Dermis is composed of two less distinctly defined layers compared to the epidermis and is made up of fibroblast and mast cells. The Fibroblasts are responsible for creating the skin's matrix, primarily composed of collagen and elastin, and Mast cells, which contain histamine particles, being a crucial part of the skin's innate immune system, are found within the dermis. Collagen is the principal protein that imparts structure to the skin and connective tissues, providing both elasticity and strength.

The thickness of the dermis varies depending on its location on the body. It measures approximately 0.6 millimetres thick on the eyelids, whereas on the back, palms of the hands, and soles of the feet, it reaches up to 3 millimetres in thickness.

Significant changes due to the aging process occur within the dermis, making it a focal point for skincare products.

▪The Hypodermis, or subcutaneous tissue, forms the deepest layer of the skin. Composed mainly of fat, connective tissues, and larger blood vessels and nerves, this layer performs several essential functions. It stores fat cells for energy reserves, provides the body with a smooth, contoured appearance, and regulates temperature by controlling blood vessel dilation and contraction. Additionally, the hypodermis acts as a crucial attachment point for bones, muscles, and other organs to the skin. It houses deep pressure sensors and produces leptin, a hormone vital for maintaining metabolic balance within the body.

To sum up:

The skin, our body's largest organ, consists of three distinct layers, each with unique roles.
The outermost layer generates new skin cells, shields the body from harmful substances, and retains moisture to ensure hydration.
The middle layer fortifies and sustains the skin. It maintains moisture, nourishes the epidermis, enables fine sensory perceptions, and helps regulate temperature.
The innermost layer acts as insulation against temperature fluctuations and physical shocks. It shapes the body's contours, links the skin to internal organs, stores fat cells for energy, and assists in temperature regulation.

Transformative processes in mature skin

As we age, the epidermis becomes thinner, although the number of cell layers remains constant. The count of melanocytes diminishes, while the size of the remaining melanocytes enlarges. Consequently, aging skin appears thinner, paler, and more translucent. Pigmented spots, such as age spots or "liver spots," may emerge in areas frequently exposed to the sun.

Alterations in the connective tissue decrease the skin's strength and elasticity, a change particularly noticeable in sun-exposed regions. This phenomenon contributes to the leathery, weather-beaten look often seen in those who spend extensive time outdoors. Additionally, the blood vessels within the dermis become more fragile, leading to bruising, bleeding beneath the skin, and a condition known as cherry angiomas.

Sebaceous glands produce less oil, a change that is especially pronounced in women starting at menopause. This reduction in oil production makes it harder to retain the skin’s moisture, resulting in increased dryness and itchiness. While this aging process is less pronounced in men, they typically begin to experience it more significantly after the age of 80.
The subcutaneous fat layer also diminishes, resulting in reduced insulation and padding. This not only heightens the risk of skin injuries but also impairs the body's ability to regulate temperature. Some medications are absorbed by the fat layer, and its shrinkage may alter the efficacy of these drugs.

Sweat glands produce less sweat as well, complicating the body's ability to cool itself. Consequently, the risk of overheating or developing heat stroke rises. Moreover, growths such as skin tags, brown rough patches, and other blemishes become more common with advancing age.
Aging skin also takes longer to repair itself compared to younger skin. Wound healing may be delayed by up to four times, increasing the risk of pressure ulcers and infections. Conditions such as diabetes, blood vessel changes, reduced immunity, and other factors further complicate the healing process.

Facial aging, manifested through wrinkles, uneven skin tone and texture, disproportionate soft tissue distribution, can significantly impact psychological, emotional, and social well-being. These changes in appearance can distort self-perception and alter how others view the individual. The visible signs of aging might affect relationships by influencing perceived personality traits or by falsely conveying emotions such as anger, fatigue, or sadness, which may not represent the person's true feelings. In contrast, a youthful face, characterized by harmonious, symmetrical, and balanced features, tends to project more positive emotions. Consequently, effective treatments for facial aging that yield attractive and natural-looking results can greatly enhance an individual's self-esteem and positively influence how they are perceived in social interactions.

In essence, the diverse changes that aging skin undergoes result from a complex interaction of internal and external factors, along with structural and functional alterations. These elements together shape the distinctive features and challenges of mature skin, particularly when considering organic skincare products.

We encourage you to share your thoughts and reviews about this article, as well as your preferences for topics you'd like to see in our future issues.
In our upcoming edition, we will explore the requirements of mature skin to restore its elasticity and youthful glow, along with an introduction to the benefits of organic formulations.

Understanding Mature Skin

Mature skin refers to the natural aging process of our skin, characterized by a reduction in elasticity and firmness, alongside the emergence of fine lines and wrinkles. Regardless of whether your skin is inherently dry or oily, everyone will experience mature skin at some stage—some sooner, others later.
Typically, skin is classified as “mature” when age-related changes become more pronounced, usually starting around the age of 40. However, the specific age at which these changes become evident can vary widely among individuals.
Identifying Mature Skin.
Indicators of mature skin include dryness and tightness, fine lines, a thinner texture, reduced elasticity, liver spots, enlarged pores, and wrinkles. The aging process of our facial skin is influenced by a combination of genetic factors and lifestyle choices, which can be categorized as follows:
- Chronological Aging: This is the natural aging process where our skin becomes thinner, drier, and less elastic over time. The production of natural oils and proteins decreases, impacting our skin’s ability to bounce back and retain moisture. Consequently, this leads to the appearance of lines, wrinkles, dullness, and dryness, which are common traits of mature skin.

▪1.Extrinsic Aging: This type of aging is driven by external factors and lifestyle choices, including sun exposure, pollution, smoking, diet, and stress. Extrinsic aging can hasten the onset of mature skin. One of the most critical factors in extrinsic aging is ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun, which can break down collagen and elastin fibres in the skin, resulting in premature wrinkles and sagging.

Advantages of Organic Skincare
Our skin, the largest organ in our body, absorbs much of what we apply to it. On average, a person uses around 10 different beauty products daily, exposing their skin to various chemicals that may eventually infiltrate their system unknowingly. If you’re aiming for a healthier lifestyle, prioritizing organic and natural skincare should be at the forefront of your mind. Here are a few compelling reasons why :

1.Beneficial for Your Skin.

Ingredients used in organic skincare must meet the same stringent standards as those in organic food. Harsh chemicals, herbicides, and fertilizers are strictly prohibited. By utilizing ingredients that are harmonious with your body, you can better balance and heal your skin when you opt for organic skincare.

2.Healthier for Your Body.

Many conventional skincare products contain endocrine-disrupting substances such as phthalates, sodium lauryl sulphate, and parabens. These recognized carcinogens can significantly harm the endocrine, reproductive, and immune systems. The larger amounts of harmful chemicals that can enter and accumulate in your body from using multiple products may cause serious health issues over time.

3.Organic Skincare Products are Made of Natural Ingredients.

Certified organic products derive their ingredients from plants and other naturally occurring substances. Importantly, these organic ingredients are cultivated without synthetic fertilizers, GMOs, pesticides, herbicides, or other additives and chemicals. This ensures that your skin and body absorb only safe, natural compounds.

4.Eco-Friendly and Sustainable.

Using organic skincare products also benefits the environment. Organic farming practices are designed to be sustainable and environmentally friendly, avoiding harmful chemicals that can pollute the soil and water. By choosing organic, you contribute to a healthier planet as well as healthier skin.

5.Environmentally Friendly.

Sustainable farming and eco-conscious production techniques are employed to cultivate and manufacture the organic ingredients found in organic skin care products. These products are devoid of harsh chemicals, which means significantly less waste and fewer toxins are released into our waterways and soil. By opting for organic beauty products, you not only enhance the health of your skin and body but also contribute positively to the well-being of our planet.

6.Reduced Risk of Allergies with Organic Products.

Organic skincare products are less likely to cause allergic reactions, inflammations, or irritations due to the absence of harsh chemicals. Should an allergic reaction occur from using organic products, it is more likely to be due to a natural by-product of essential oils or other natural ingredients like almonds or strawberries, making it easier to identify and address.

7.Superior Efficacy of Organic Skin Care Products.

Research has shown that plants grown organically possess a higher concentration of essential antioxidant vitamins compared to their non-organic counterparts. The organic ingredients are free from contamination as they are cultivated without pesticides and herbicides, which also translates to a cleaner application on your skin and body. Furthermore, active ingredients can constitute up to 95% of an organic skin care product's formula, whereas synthetic skin care products typically contain only 5 to 10% active ingredients.

8.Gentle on the Skin.

When you choose natural, organic skin care products, you are ensuring that you receive the full nutritional benefits of the ingredients. Natural organic components such as shea butter, aloe vera, honey, and coconut oil are renowned for their ability to soothe, nourish, moisturize, and promote smooth skin. Organic skin care products are gentle on your skin and will not cause harm over time, even though the results might take a bit longer to manifest.

9.Eco-Friendly Packaging Solutions.

Most producers of eco-friendly beauty products have put considerable thought into the packaging of their items, recognizing the importance of sustainability. Consequently, the packaging for green cosmetics is often biodegradable, reusable, or recyclable. It is our responsibility to dispose of waste properly to maintain environmental health.

10.Cost-Effective and Efficient.

By comparing synthetic cosmetics with eco-friendly alternatives, you can see that protecting the environment does not have to be a costly endeavour. One might assume that eco-friendly products would be more expensive, but prices are often comparable due to savings on production and packaging costs. Thus, it is possible to protect the environment without sacrificing your financial well-being.

11.No Harm to Animals and Wildlife.

The beauty industry has long been criticized for its reliance on animal testing to ensure product safety for human use. Organic products, however, do not require animal testing because their natural ingredients are inherently safe and non-toxic. By purchasing organic skin care products, you support the industry's efforts to eliminate animal testing and endorse cruelty-free practices. Organic products, made from materials grown without harmful pesticides and fertilizers, leave no adverse environmental impacts on the soil, water, and air.
Moreover, organic skincare products are beneficial for wildlife as they require fewer pesticide and fertilizer applications, produce less carbon dioxide, and generate less hazardous waste. By choosing organic skin care products, you can significantly reduce your environmental footprint and advocate for environmental sustainability.

Conclusion
Organic skin care products not only nurture your skin with natural, beneficial ingredients but also play a crucial role in preserving the environment, promoting ethical practices, and supporting a healthier planet for future generations.

Hidden treasures – Part 1 - Herbs

In this miniseries, we will examine the herbs, oils, and butters available in our kitchens, along with easy-to-make formulations designed for personal use to create nourishing, and refreshing skincare products.
I hope you find joy in using straightforward methods to craft wonderful, natural creams and lotions.

Many of the oils, herbs, and butters we consume in our diets offer tremendous benefits when used on our skin. After all, if the ingredients in your skincare routine aren’t safe to eat, it’s best not to apply them to your body – not suggesting that crystalline creams products are tasty, but they are certainly nutritious for your skin.

Let’s begin with the most popular herbs, listed alphabetically.

Basil – a flavourful addition to pesto sauce, salads, or soups, is packed with antioxidants like eugenol and camphor. These antioxidants protect the skin from free radicals, slow down signs of aging, and reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Additionally, basil is rich in antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, which promote wound healing and provide a natural glow to your delicate facial skin.

Cilantro – often used in curries and Mexican dishes, as well as in chili and salsas, is another fantastic ingredient for our facial skin. It is loaded with antioxidants that help repair and shield our skin from environmental damage. Its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties can soothe and enhance acne-prone and sensitive skin. Cilantro’s high vitamin C content promotes collagen production, making our skin appear more youthful and radiant.

Coriander – typically used as a seasoning in various dishes, offers numerous benefits for your skin. It is rich in vitamin C, known to brighten and enhance the skin's complexion. Its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties can help combat acne, eczema, and other skin issues. Coriander stimulates the regeneration of new cells, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, leaving your skin nourished, clear, and glowing. Another benefit of coriander is its ability to reduce skin irritation and redness. Its anti-inflammatory properties can soothe and calm irritated skin, making it an excellent natural remedy for those with sensitive skin.

Dill – a versatile ingredient used in fish dishes, salads, or soups, offers invaluable benefits for your complexion. Packed with minerals, antioxidants, and vitamins, dill contributes to a more radiant and healthier complexion. Its anti-inflammatory properties can effectively soothe swelling, irritation, and redness, promoting a calmer complexion. The vitamin C content in dill aids in achieving a brighter complexion. The essential oils found in dill help prevent dehydration and lock in moisture, resulting in smoother and softer skin. Additionally, the vitamin K present in dill supports skin repair and regeneration.

_Mint – is a versatile and flavourful addition to fish, soups, drinks, and desserts, but it also shines as a remarkable component of any skincare routine. Renowned for its strong anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory qualities, mint is highly effective in treating acne and reducing acne scars. The leaves are rich in salicylic acid and vitamin A, both of which regulate sebum production and ward off unwanted breakouts. Additionally, mint plays a role in lightening dark spots and can help retain moisture by tightening pores, thus delaying the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. _

Oregano – is an exceptional herb often used to enhance the flavor of Italian dishes, meats, sauces, and soups. Beyond its culinary applications, it is a rich source of antioxidants and boasts impressive anti-aging and anti-inflammatory benefits. Additionally, oregano has properties that support tissue repair and combat bacteria and fungi.

Parsley – is a versatile herb found in various culinary applications, such as herb blends, stews, sauces, and soups. Beyond its culinary uses, parsley is renowned for its remarkable ability to regulate sebum production, promote skin regeneration, reduce inflammation, and diminish acne scars, dark spots, and undereye circles. It also helps in evening out skin tone.

Rosemary – known for enhancing the flavour of casseroles, salads, seafood, vegetables, and soups, offers more than just culinary benefits. Its anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties make it a valuable ingredient for skincare as well. By promoting cell renewal and improving skin texture, rosemary helps diminish fine lines and wrinkles, resulting in a brighter, smoother, and more youthful appearance.

Sage – often added to soups, sausages, fish, meats, salads, and stuffings, is not only flavourful but also packed with antioxidants and vitamin C, which combat free radicals. It boosts collagen production, essential for maintaining skin structure and elasticity. Sage improves skin suppleness, reduces inflammation, minimizes fine lines and wrinkles, hydrates and nourishes the skin, and helps achieve an even skin tone.

Thyme – a member of the mint family and closely related to oregano, is a popular herb used to season chowders, meats, fish, stuffing, and poultry. It boasts antiseptic, antiviral, and antibacterial properties. Known for having some of the highest antioxidant levels among herbs, thyme is rich in vitamins A, B, C, and E, and offers soothing relief for sensitive, dry, red, itchy, or dehydrated skin.

It has soothing properties that are particularly advantageous for mature or sensitive skin, helping to reinforce the skin barrier and alleviate itchy, irritated areas, it slows down the aging process, serving as an effective emollient and moisturizer. This helps the skin retain water, preventing dryness.

Plant-based butters - go by various names and offer diverse flavours, but for skincare formulations, we seek the plain, unsalted varieties. Typically crafted from lecithin, rapeseed oil, avocado oil, sunflower oil, and similar ingredients, these butters carry the beneficial properties of their components, enhancing their use in skincare.

Hidden treasures – Part 3 – Berries, Exotic Fruits and Dried petals

In this episode, we will explore the incredible skin-revitalizing and rejuvenating properties of our favourite berries, flower petals, and exotic fruits. These ingredients should be used in thoroughly dry conditions within macerates.

Elderberry - is rich in vitamin C, which supports collagen production and helps reduce the visibility of wrinkles and fine lines. They protect the skin from oxidative damage by neutralizing free radicals, giving you a more youthful and radiant complexion. Vitamin A aids in evening out skin tone and diminishing the look of age spots. Additionally, the cleansing astringent properties help eliminate excess oils, clear dead skin cells, and tighten pores to decrease oil production.

Strawberry -rich in vitamin C and a potent antioxidant, this ingredient supports collagen synthesis and accelerates skin cell renewal. Hidden treasures – Part 4 – Key Information Before You Begin Formulating

Hidden treasures – Part 4 – Key Information Before You Begin Formulating

In this chapter of our miniseries, we will begin by making sure your workspace is secure and organized, allowing you to craft simple and enjoyable skincare products for your own use.

It is crucial to note that formulations are most effective when considered in percentages, as these remain stable over time and with various ingredients. When we measure essential oils in drops, it's evident that the weight of each drop can vary each time the dropper is used.
Using percentages ensures you can consistently recreate the same formulation with equally impressive results.

There are numerous formulations available online from various sources, and understanding the fundamentals is highly beneficial.

Regarding your equipment:
Ensure your containers and utensils are thoroughly clean and dry. This is especially important if you're making a water-free product using only oils and butter. Any presence of water in the mix will require a preservative to protect the final product from bacterial, fungal, and yeast contamination for at least six months of shelf life.

Regarding your workspace:
It should be clean, dry, and well-ventilated. You don't want the scents from your formulation mixing with lingering odors from food.

Regarding your protective gear:
When working with botanicals and essential oils, it is crucial to consider the skin's tolerance to these oils, as exceeding certain levels can cause sensitivity or irritation. Wearing an apron and gloves will protect your hands and clothes from any accidental spills. If you have long hair, tie it back to prevent it from falling into your products.

Lastly, keep disinfectant wipes and paper towels nearby to maintain a clean work area as you proceed.

And now, let's get to the exciting part!

How to infuse herbs, petals, and fruits into oils and butters:

- Always use dried botanicals or fruits from a reputable source to prevent water contamination from the moisture in fresh plants or fruits.

- To ensure the dry ingredients release their beneficial components in their pure and unaltered state, always heat in a double boiler at a low temperature for no more than 6 hours, or use a slow cooker overnight.

- If you want your infusion to have a high content of the desired properties, replace the plant material every hour, up to six times. Remember, less is more, and be cautious about the total concentration of certain elements, especially Vitamin E in your formulations, as recent studies have indicated that exceeding safe levels can negatively impact your overall health.

- Occasionally stir gently to help the macerates release their beneficial components into the carrier oil or plant-based butter.

- After sifting, pour your infused product into a clean, dry container and mix in 1% Vitamin E to keep it fresh.

- Mark with the best before date and the list of ingredients.

- Keep in a cool, dark location, out of reach of children.

Formulating is fun!

1. Define your goal: are you seeking a soothing experience or a refreshing one? Do you need an antioxidant or a moisturizing product?

2. Determine whether you aim to craft a facial oil, an emulsion, or a balm.

3. Determine the amount of the end product you plan to make and translate the percentages into weight.

3. Select your ingredients.

4. Organize your workspace and get ready!

5. Measure your ingredients, converting percentages into grams for both solids and liquids.

In our last chapter of this miniseries we will become creative, we will seek to formulate fun and attractive products for your personal skincare.

• How to translate % into grams:

150g of final product

30% of distilled water = 150/100 x 30 = 45g or 1,5 x 30 = 45g

Calculate each ingredient's weight by dividing the total quantity of final product by 100 and then multiplying by the percentage designated for each component.

After determining the weight for every item, ensure that their combined total matches the original quantity.

Thank you for accompanying us on this exploration of natural beauty and wellness. Stay tuned for our final episode.

Hidden treasures – Part 5 – Simple formulations for personal use

In this final episode of our miniseries, you'll finally get to enjoy yourself, engaging in a creative process while surrounded by the splendour of nature and the fragrances of aromatherapy. Crafting, much like gardening or cooking, has a soothing effect on your overall well-being, so allow yourself a few hours to bask in these restorative energies.

Before you dive into formulating, keep the following points in mind:

1. If your product includes water, you'll need a preservative to guard against mould, bacteria, and yeast, or you can make a small batch and store it in the fridge - bare in mind, you can only store safely for 7-10 days.

2. If your product contains oils and butters, extend its shelf life by incorporating an antioxidant like Vitamin E.

3. If your product is a blend of oils and hydrosols, you must add both Vitamin E and a preservative.

Additionally, when using a preservative, it's important to check your product's pH level to ensure it’s safe for your skin. The optimal pH range for facial skin is between 5 and 6.

With these essentials covered, let's dive in and have some fun creating your own formulations!

Facial Oil.

Extra virgin Olive oil infused – you can choose dried rosemary, parsley, dill, dried berries, or a combination of these.

For every 1000g of olive oil, use 50g of each ingredient.

For every 1000g of plant-based butter, use 50g of each herb or berry you prefer.

If you find the aroma of extra-virgin olive oil overpowering, consider using sunflower oil, coconut oil, or any other mild-scented oil from your pantry.

Personally, I find that coconut oil infused with dried strawberries has an irresistible aroma!

Feel free to experiment with various oil combinations, always keeping your desired outcome in mind.

Facial Cleanser.

To keep this product fresh for at least six months, you’ll need to add vitamin E.

Infused butter: 50%

Infused oil: 48.5%

Vitamin E: 0.5%

Essential oil: 1%

Essential oils are fantastic additions to any formulation because they offer two key benefits: they improve the fragrance of your product while also adding valuable properties.

Important Notice:

Before selecting your essential oils, be sure to review the allergen information.

Always limit the total amount of essential oils to no more than 1% in any combination to stay within the safe skin application limit for leave-on products, as advised by the UK Cosmetic Regulations.

Facial Cream (Water-Free)

Plant-Based Butter: 50% infused.

Oils: 48% infused.

Vitamin E: 1%

Essential Oils: 1%

Keep in mind that if you decide to melt the butter, your ingredients are sensitive to heat.

Always use a double boiler to maintain the essential qualities of each component.

Remember, your infused ingredients already include Vitamin E, which should not be heated above 40°C (104°F).

Crystals we use in our products -  Amethyst

In this miniseries, we plan to examine in detail, each of the four selected crystals that we have included in our product range. We will discuss the motivations behind choosing to infuse their distinct energies into our creams, toners, and gels, offering a deeper understanding of their importance.

Amethyst has been admired for centuries, not only for its striking beauty but also for its unique ability to soothe and stimulate both the mind and emotions. Though classified as a semi-precious stone in contemporary times, it was once known as the "Gem of Fire" and, throughout various historical periods, was considered as valuable as diamonds.

The ancient Romans dedicated this month to their water deity, Neptune, thereby making Amethyst the traditional birthstone for February. It is also linked with St. Valentine and the concept of faithful love. Known as the Bishop's Stone, Amethyst signifies ecclesiastical dignity and represents both the fervour of fire and the rationality of temperance.

Historically, Amethyst has been associated with the prevention of drunkenness and excess. The ancient Greeks and Romans often embedded their goblets with Amethyst, believing that consuming wine from an Amethyst cup would prevent intoxication. They also thought that wearing an Amethyst, especially near the navel, had a sobering effect on both inebriation and excessive passion.

In Eastern traditions, Amethyst was included in descriptions of sacred "gem-cities," "trees of life," and temple offerings for worship. It was often utilized to align planetary and astrological influences and was popular in rosaries and prayer beads. Amethyst was believed to foster an atmosphere of pious calm, instilling a sense of mental peace and tranquillity.

In modern and contemporary times, Amethyst continues to be cherished for its spiritual significance, mirroring its historical roots. It enhances spirituality and contentment, known for its metaphysical properties that quiet the mind and inspire a meditative state. Its high frequency purifies the aura of negative energy or attachments, creating a protective shield of Light around the body and allowing one to remain clear and centred while opening to spiritual guidance.

Amethyst's ability to expand the higher mind also enhances creativity and passion. It strengthens the imagination and intuition, refining thought processes and making it an ideal talisman for focus and success.

Beyond its creative applications, Amethyst is beneficial for boosting hormone production and stimulating the endocrine glands and sympathetic nervous system. This results in improved oxygenation of the blood and helps address various health issues, including those affecting the digestive tract, heart, skin, and stomach. It is also known to enhance the immune system, reduce pain, bruising, and swelling, and can alleviate arthritis symptoms. Its calming energy can soothe neural impulses in the brain, reducing headaches, migraines, and stress.

Emotionally, Amethyst is particularly supportive, helping those who are overworked, overwhelmed, or overstressed return to their centre. It can even assist individuals in identifying the root cause of their negative patterns and behaviours, leading to a more balanced and healthy state.

Amethyst and Skin Benefits

Amethyst is renowned for its ability to calm and soothe the skin, significantly speeding up the process of cellular renewal, enhancing the production of collagen, effectively minimizing puffiness, and aiding in the reduction of bruising and swelling. Furthermore, it plays a crucial role in significantly reducing redness and irritation while providing substantial relief from tension and stress.

The Crystalline Creams brand places a strong emphasis on improving the appearance of skin that shows signs of aging, making Amethyst an ideal selection for achieving such goals.

When incorporated into our skincare products, Amethyst works in harmony with natural botanical ingredients, thereby amplifying their positive effects on your skin.

Crystals we use in our products - Clear Quartz

In this second part of our miniseries, we aim to explore the amazing advantages of Clear quartz, benefiting not just our facial skin, but also our emotional, mental, and physical wellbeing. We will cover the reasons for incorporating its energies into our creams, toners, and gels, providing a richer comprehension of the significance of Clear quartz in our products.

Clear Quartz is considered the supreme gift of Mother Earth, with even the smallest crystal possessing the properties of a master healer and teacher. Resonating at an individual's needs, Clear Quartz amplifies whatever energy or intent is programmed into it and continues to broadcast that energy throughout the world and into the etheric realms. This ability to hold energy patterns for extended periods is why many believe that quartz can accelerate the manifestation of goals or intensify spiritual growth and wellbeing.

Throughout history, every civilization has valued Clear Quartz, dating back to Atlantis and Lemuria, where the sun's power was believed to be harnessed through crystals as a source of solar energy refraction. Native American Indians, African tribes, ancient Egyptians, Aztecs, Romans, Scots, and countless other cultures used Clear Quartz in spiritual development, diagnostic healing, meditations, religious objects, and funerary rites, and to dispel evil and magical enchantments.

In modern and contemporary times, Clear Quartz crystal is revered for its ability to transform mechanical pressure or heat into electromagnetic energy, and vice versa, a property known as piezoelectric and pyroelectric properties. Its ability to focus, amplify, store, and transform energy is essential in various technological devices, including ultrasound machines, watches, microphones, radio transmitters and receivers, memory chips, and other electronic circuitry.

Its ability to amplify energy, programmability, and memory, make it a sought-after stone for those seeking its blessings. However, it is imperative to remember that with great power comes great responsibility.

To receive the full benefits of this stone, one must be in harmony with it and deserving of its gifts. Any intent that is not pure and good will inevitably result in negative consequences.

Clear Quartz also produces a force field of negative ions that clears the surroundings of positive ions, thereby protecting the aura. It dispels static electricity and counteracts the harmful effects of radiation and radioactivity.

As a master healer crystal, Clear Quartz may be used for any condition and is believed to stimulate the immune and circulatory systems, enhance energy flow, and bring the body into balance. It has also been known to alleviate migraines, vertigo, dizziness, and motion sickness, and assist with metabolism, exhaustion, and weight loss. Moreover, Clear Quartz soothes painful or injured areas, particularly burns, by drawing away pain and eliminating blistering.

Clear Quartz provides enhanced energy, perseverance, and patience, and teaches one to live, laugh, and love with all of humanity. It targets inner negativity, stimulates positive thoughts and feelings, increases awareness, and promotes clarity in thinking.

Clear Quartz and Skin Benefits

Clear quartz offers a potent cleansing effect, extracting impurities from deep within the skin and removing accumulated environmental toxins, pollutants, and makeup residue that can dull the complexion. Its purifying qualities help minimize breakouts and acne by keeping pores clear. With its cooling and soothing properties, clear quartz is excellent for reducing inflammation, irritation, puffiness, and redness. It can soothe sensitive skin prone to rashes, hives, and flare-ups. Additionally, its astringent and toning abilities tighten pores, control excess oil, brighten the complexion, and diminish the appearance of age spots. Clear quartz's energies stimulate skin circulation, boosting collagen production, which enhances elasticity and firmness. Your skin will become more supple and resilient.

Given its extraordinary attributes, it's easy to see why Clear Quartz is a common ingredient in several of our products.

We'll discuss why its energies should be included in our creams, toners, and gels, offering a deeper understanding of the importance of Green Jade in our products.

Jadehas been celebrated for nearly 6000 years for its capacity to bring blessings to anything it touches and to serve humanity across the globe.

Historically,Green Jade was treasured in the British Isles due to its robustness, ability to be polished to a fine sheen, and sharpening properties, making it an ideal material for crafting weapons, knives, and axe heads. In regions such as Mexico, Central and South America, and New Zealand, indigenous tribes utilized Jade to create deity masks, ritual artifacts, and even offered it to water spirits by casting it into wells to ensure a plentiful supply of fresh water. In China, Jade has been the most revered stone for thousands of years, admired for its healing and protective qualities as well as its undeniable beauty. It has been carved into a vast array of items, including gemstones, incense burners, burial objects, statues, musical instruments, and pendants adorned with poetic inscriptions.

In contemporary times, Green Jade, often referred to as the "Dream Stone," remains esteemed for its ability to access spiritual realms, provide insights into ritualistic knowledge, stimulate creativity, and foster dream-related solutions. It also serves as a symbol of good luck and friendship, representing the wisdom gained through tranquillity, eliminating negative energy, and allowing individuals to see themselves in their true light, while boosting self-confidence, assurance, self-reliance, and sufficiency.

Jade possesses powerful cleansing properties that enhance the function of the body's filtration and elimination organs, making it valuable in treating issues related to the kidneys, spleen, and supra-adrenal glands. It aids in the removal of toxins and balances fluid and water-salt/acid-alkaline ratios. Additionally, it is beneficial for addressing bone and joint problems, especially in the hips, as well as bacterial and viral infections, cystitis, urinary infections, and bedwetting. Jade also has restorative properties, helping the cellular and skeletal systems to regenerate and assisting the body in alleviating pain associated with self-healing.

The use of Green Jade is also advantageous in clearing blockages and fostering a deeper understanding of one's emotional and physical needs. This helps in navigating the complexities of relationships, recognizing their cyclical nature, and embracing the changes they bring.

Through millennia, the enduring allure of Green Jade has proven its timeless significance and multifaceted benefits, ensuring its place in the annals of human history as a stone of immense value and spiritual significance.

Green Jade and Skin Benefits

In Chinese tradition, jade has long been celebrated as the "stone of youth" due to its powerful anti-aging benefits. Its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties combat the effects of sun damage and environmental stress. Green jade is rich in skin-rejuvenating minerals, making it a valued crystal for enhancing overall skin health and vitality.

Jade is known for its strong anti-inflammatory and cooling qualities, which can help reduce puffiness under the eyes, soothe irritation, and diminish redness. It is effective in lessening age spots, acne scars, and melasma. The minerals in jade can help slow melanin production, gradually lightening areas of hyperpigmentation.

Green jade can also tone and tighten the skin, reducing the appearance of large pores for a smoother, firmer complexion. Removing impurities and environmental pollutants from the skin results in a clearer, more radiant appearance.

Jade contains numerous skin-enhancing minerals, including calcium, magnesium, sodium, and iron. It has a gentle detoxifying effect, helping to eliminate toxins from the body and boost blood circulation. The rich mineral content in jade makes it an excellent choice for improving skin vitality.

Crystals we use in our products -Rose Quartz

In the concluding segment of our miniseries, we intend to highlight the remarkable benefits of Rose Quartz, which enhance not only our facial complexion but also our emotional, mental, and physical health. We will discuss why integrating its energies into our skincare products like creams, toners, and gels is essential, offering a deeper understanding of the value of Rose Quartz in our formulations.

Rose Quartz encapsulates the essence of love in all its diverse expressions. Its energy emanates a soft, nurturing force, carrying compassion, tranquillity, and tenderness to comfort and heal both the heart and soul. This stone dissolves emotional wounds, fears, and grudges, and projects a divine energy throughout the aura, awakening the heart to its innate capacity for love and granting a profound sense of personal contentment and joy, enabling the ability to give and receive love without conditions.

Historically, Rose Quartz was known as the Heart Stone and was recognized as a token of love as far back as 600 B.C., continuing to be a significant charm for relationships to this very day. The stone's renowned beautification properties are evident from the ancient facial masks discovered in Egyptian tombs, revered by the Egyptians and Romans for its capacity to enhance complexion and reduce wrinkles. It was esteemed by the Tibetan and Oriental cultures and remains one of the principal stones used in Chinese carving.

In modern and contemporary times, its attributes remain effective in attracting new love, enhancing romance and intimacy, and strengthening bonds with family and friends. It also fosters connections within groups and communities, aligning with the higher spiritual realms of the Earth, Universe, and the Divine. Rose Quartz can facilitate equilibrium and support on physical, emotional, and spiritual levels. It has a therapeutic impact on physical health issues and emotional imbalances, and can also be used to invigorate the heart and circulatory system, alleviate sorrow, and ground spiritual energies. It aids in dissolving heartaches, fears, sorrows, and grudges that may hinder the heart's ability to love, replacing them with healing, solace, and inner nourishment. This transformation enables one to build a foundation of inner peace and satisfaction, making love and contentment a personal reality.

When gently applied to burns, Rose Quartz has the ability to reduce blistering and promote the healing process, making it beneficial in minimizing unsightly scars. This gemstone assists in eliminating fluids from the body's cells and purging impurities, promoting the healing of the kidneys and adrenals, and providing relief for chest and lung issues when placed on the thymus, easing coughs and calming bronchial troubles.

Rose Quartz and Skin Benefits

The use of Rose Quartz as a skincare solution offers a significant advantage, particularly in its capacity to minimize swelling and boost the flow of blood in the areas surrounding the eyes, which results in eyes that appear more luminous and lively. It is equally effective at reducing under-eye puffiness and defining the facial structure more clearly. Rose Quartz can alleviate skin irritation and diminish the redness and swelling associated with acne outbreaks. It supports the process of lymphatic drainage as well, aiding the body in eliminating toxins. An increase in oxygenation facilitated by rose quartz leads to enhanced skin resilience, ensuring a more robust and tight facial appearance. Additionally, its purifying effects help in lessening the look of wrinkles and fostering a smoother, more refined skin complexion.

This concludes our miniseries on the advantages of incorporating Amethyst, Clear Quartz, Green Jade, or Rose Quartz in our products. A wealth of detailed information about these crystals is available from reliable sources, and we encourage you to investigate further if you're interested in learning more.

We sincerely appreciate your time spent reading these articles and look forward to seeing you next month. We will be exploring methods for cleaning, purifying, and instructing crystals to optimize their benefits and enrich our lives with their timeless wisdom.
